Re: Prophylactic paper toilet seat cover usage in public restrooms.

If you're going to use a fucking toilet doily when you hit the head at the office, or at the park, or in the Starbucks, do me a favor...

....before you leave, turn around and make sure it FUCKING FLUSHED.

Thank you.

I think I must undertake a quest to make my shoe situation more eco-friendly and less oriented towards the disposable. This morning, as I was picking out my outfit and contemplating whether to wear the black flip flops or the brown flip flops, I had a sudden urge to wear....anything but a flip flop. So, I wandered out into the foyer to peruse my ridiculously large shoe collection. It's sad - I have craploads of shoes, and since I broke my tailbone, I have rarely worn anything but flat shoes, platform shoes, and flip flops. My awesome Steve Madden stacked heel loafers barely get any play, let alone my fabulous collection of rocking wedges and various other girlie shoes with heels. Part of me finds this a little on the depressing side (I love shoes! How can I be neglecting mine like this?!), but even worse....as I was looking over the racks and racks of shoes I haven't worn in months (maybe years?), I started thinking that maybe it's just a tad wasteful to have such a huge collection and not use it.

And then, I stumbled across this article, with tips on how to "pimp your shoes." Now, I may not use all these ideas, or even any of them....but it does suddenly inspire me to get out my crafty, creative side and attack my untapped shoe collection and see if maybe I can't come up with some ways to make the shoes I haven't worn lately....more wearable. Like, if I take the cute wooden platform clogs that I can't wear in the summer because they're covered with snowflakes....and maybe get rid of the snowflakes and turn them into....er....flowers or something. I could totally do that.

Anyway. Some cool ideas are percolating. I heart shoes too much to continue letting mine just go to waste!

I was going through the calendar for the next few months, with a view to where I'd like to take some vacation time and all that. I'm so stoked: for the past three Septembers, I've done the Alliance for the Great Lakes beach cleanup, followed by a visit to Chicago Celtic Fest. In the same day, I get to help the environment *and* ogle men in kilts!! What could be better?
