Talk about scatterbrained...
<<<--- -- 01 March 2006 -- --->>>

I've been having split brain experiences lately. Different parts of my brain keep reacting to things in distinct ways, at the same time. It's sort of amusing, sort of scary, and all strange. What else is new?

To give you an idea of what I mean....so, recently, I joined the techno-fied world and got the tricked out laptop with all the gadgets and peripherals, including the webcam. Now, ten years ago, I'd have set that bad boy up and broadcast paint drying to the world. Now, I'm older, I'm wiser, and I'm using my webcam for video & voice instant messaging.

So, last night, I'm sitting in the kitchen at the laptop, camera on, music jamming, chatting with my mom while she tries to sneak in a cigarette off camera. Part of my brain is thinking....wow, this is kinda lame. I mean, sure, it's like video phones from the movies...but so? No big deal. Then there's the other part that is rocking out to the tunes and thinking, "Dude!!! This is like video phones from the movies!!!! This is freakin' AWESOME!!"

That's what I mean.

This morning I had a similar moment when I saw a dude in a top hat get off the train. Yes, a top hat. A nice one, too - silk and shiny and obviously cared for well. As I'm looking at this dude, part of me is cataloguing him as some wanker Goth wannabe in a long black trench and a pretentious, if unique, hat. The rest of me is just admiring how silly it is, and how much I dig this dude being silly enough to wear such an adorably jaunty piece of anachronistic clothing as a top hat.

Tonight is the first night of the Tarot class I'm teaching with a good friend; it's going to be hellaciously fun. Part of our plan for tonight involves some trancework - I've got my frame drum with me, and tonight we get to see if I can manage to trance drum and sing at the same time....exciting!
