Home for the Holidays.
<<<--- -- 27 December 2005 -- --->>>

Well, I made it through Christmas at home, just barely. I ate too much, drank too much, and played with my neices like the devoted auntie I am. I even went to (gasp) Church and sang carols with my grandparents. It was not a bad holiday, all told.

I saw the new Narnia movie (really quite good, actually, and surprisingly loyal to the book). I decorated a Christmas tree with the family. I sang karaoke with my siblings. I drank nog and Bailey's, almost until I was tired of nog (almost). I dragged my guitar along for the ride and didn't get her out once.

Now, I'm back from the pastoral wilds of rural Michigan, back to Chicago and all the crap going on in my life. I'm still tired and stressed and overworked and all the other bullshit....but I'm ready for a fresh slate.

I'm very ready for 2006, for a breath of fresh air and some very big changes. I've got an ambitious list of things to accomplish next year, and I've got working plans for all of them. If I don't hit all my targets, that's all right....so long as I hit some of them.

My yearly retrospective will show up later this week, as I prepare for the end of 2005, a fabulous bash with good friends, and the first day of the rest of my life. Meanwhile, I hope all of you had a joyous holiday (whichever you celebrate) and may the new year heap blessings upon you and yours!
